STOP WAITING TO BE READY: Start Where You Are

ree

Let me ask you a question: How many times have you said, "I'll start when I'm ready"? If you're like most people, probably more times than you can count. But here's the truth that might change everything: Ready is not a feeling—it's a decision.

You cannot wait your way into purpose. You move your way into it. Because perfection? It's just procrastination dressed up in nice clothes, preventing you from taking the action you need to take.

The Perfection Trap That Keeps You Stuck

I used to be the queen of planning. Beautiful notebooks, color-coded calendars, vision boards—you name it, I had it. But when it came to taking action, I would freeze. And deep down, it wasn't because I was lazy. It was because I was scared.

Scared of failing. Scared of what people would say. Afraid that if I showed up and it wasn't perfect, people wouldn't take me seriously. Maybe you've been there too. You've got dreams, a message, and a vision, but you're stuck in "I'll start when..."

I learned that waiting for the perfect time is fear in disguise. There's no ideal time. You need to start and stop procrastinating.

One day, I had a lightbulb moment. I realized I wasn't waiting to be ready—I was waiting to feel safe. But purpose isn't comfortable. It's calling you to stretch, to grow beyond what feels secure.

Busting the Myth of Perfection

Let's burst a myth that keeps many of us stuck: "I can't start until everything is perfect."

The truth is, you get clarity by moving, not by waiting. Every time I go live, do you think everything's running perfectly? No. But I don't let that stop me. At one point, fear would have kept me from doing what I needed. Not anymore.

You don't need perfect lighting, the right moment, or every step figured out. You need to take the first step. That's it.

The "Done Is Better Than Perfect" Framework

To help break free from the perfection trap, I created the "Done Is Better Than Perfect" framework. It's the same process I use with my clients when fear of imperfection keeps them stuck. Here's how it works:

Step 1: Shrink to Start

Stop overcomplicating what you have to do. Break down your big goals into small, doable actions. Then ask yourself: What's one thing I can do in the next 24 hours to move forward?

Just one thing. Not ten things. Not a complete transformation. One small step that moves you in the right direction.

Step 2: Focus on Completion, Not Perfection

Complete the task without trying to make it perfect. Perfection is a trap that delays your destiny. Completion creates momentum. Every small finish fuels your confidence to start again and do it over and over again.

This is where the magic happens—when you start building a habit of finishing things, even imperfect ones. That momentum becomes unstoppable.

Step 3: Reflect and Reframe

You don't need to get it right the first time. I didn't get it right when I first started doing live videos. I was talking with no sound coming through. But did I let it stop me? No. I returned and started all over again until I got it together.

Progress is made through reflection, not hesitation. Transform and renew your mindset so you don't let fear invade your thoughts and convince you to avoid what you're meant to do.

A Real Story of Imperfect Action

I had a client struggling with the same issue I had faced. She wanted to start a live stream but said, "I'm not ready." I told her, "That's the same thing I said. But you don't have to be ready to start. You have to move."

She was worried about her confidence, her setup, and her background. I told her, "Your message matters more than your setup. Just go live."

And she did. Her first live stream wasn't perfect—her dog was barking in the background, and she was trying to get himquiet. But she showed up anyway. And guess what? That first, imperfect live stream became one of her most viewed videos ever. Why? Because it was real.

Because it was authentic.

That one bold action gave her momentum. Within weeks, she hosted a weekly live stream show and grew her audience faster than ever. All because she stopped waiting to be ready.

Your Challenge: Take One Imperfect Action This Week

Here's your challenge for this week: Pick one thing you've procrastinated on. Whether it's a post on social media, a video you want to make, or a project you've been waiting to work on—take one imperfect action on it.

It might not be perfect, but it's okay. What you think is imperfect, somebody else won't even see the flaws you're worried about. We're harder on ourselves than anyone else could be. And yes, you might have some critics. But remember, they're not doing anything themselves, so don't listen to that noise.

All you need is your voice and the courage to say yes. You don't need fancy gear or to spend money on equipment. You need to start.

Ask yourself this powerful question: What is one imperfect action you can take this week that will move you closer to your goal?

Think about that. Then do it.

The Truth About Building Confidence

Here's something important to remember: Confidence isn't built by avoiding fear or waiting until you feel ready. Confidence is built by moving through fear, not around it.

Every time you take action despite the fear and imperfection, you're building that confidence muscle. And it gets easier. Not because the fear disappears, but because you learn you can do it anyway.

Progress doesn't wait for perfection. It starts with your courage to take that first imperfect step.

Remember:

Perfection is procrastination in disguise. It's time to break free from waiting to be ready and move into purposeful action. You don't need to shrink your dreams—you need to shrink your start. Focus on finishing, and refine as you grow.

Progress begins the moment you say yes.

So stop waiting. Start where you are. Your message and voice matter, and the world is waiting for what you can offer—imperfections and all.
