FROM THE DESK OF
DR. VALARIE HARRIS
Friend, I want to ask you something that I believe the Spirit has been stirring in you long before today. Are you really unclear about what God is calling you to do next—or are you simply afraid of the answer He has already given you?
That is the question I opened with in my most recent episode of Stepping Out with Purpose, and I am carrying it into this newsletter because I believe someone reading these words right now needs to hear it. You have been praying for clarity. You have been waiting for the right moment. And deep in your spirit—you already know the assignment.
Today, we stop asking and we start moving.

The Trap of Spiritual Stalling
We spend years—sometimes decades—crying out to God for direction. But there comes a moment, as it came for Moses at the Red Sea, when God stops answering with a plan and simply says: Move. Exodus 14:15 makes this clear. God did not say ‘let’s talk about it.’ He said, “Tell the people of Israel to go forth.”
When God has already spoken, the faithful response is not another prayer meeting—it is obedience in motion. The clarity you have been praying for has arrived. You are just not moving on it yet.
SCRIPTURE ANCHOR — EXODUS 14:15 “Why do you cry to me? Tell the people of Israel to go forth.” God has already equipped you. He has already spoken. Stop asking for a map He has already placed in your hands. Move your feet. |
The Real Reason We Freeze
Let me speak to the women who are 40, 50, and 60 years old—women who carry decades of wisdom, lived experience, and calling—and still freeze at the threshold of their next chapter.
You are not frozen because you are incompetent. You are frozen because you care deeply. You want this final chapter to matter. You are afraid of getting it wrong. But hear me: legacy is not built in the planning. It is built in the doing. What if you mess up the first time? You go back and do it again. Imperfect movement still produces progress. Perfect plans left in notebooks produce nothing.
“Legacy is not built in the planning. It is built in the doing.” — Dr. Valarie Harris |
Courage Is Walking Forward While Your Knees Shake
Every time I step out to do what I am called to do, fear tries to show up. Every single time. But 2 Timothy 1:7 reminds us that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, of love, and of a sound mind. Courage is not the absence of fear. Courage is walking forward while your knees are shaking.
I started my live stream in 2022 not knowing everything I needed to know. It was far from perfect. But I invested in help, I kept showing up, and I kept moving. That willingness to move through imperfection is what built what you see today.
The One Thing You Keep Avoiding
I want you to sit with this question for a moment: What is the one thing you keep putting on your prayer list every January—the thing that keeps appearing in your goals but never gets launched?
You do not need another certification. You do not need another seminar. You need to:
■ Draft the first chapter of that book
■ Call that young woman and say “I can mentor you”
■ Register your business — God cannot steer a parked car
■ Launch the program you have been ‘researching’ for three years
REMEMBER THIS The next generation is starving for your wisdom. When you delay your legacy, you do not protect yourself—you rob them. You have already been given permission to move. |
Your Action Step This Week
This week, I am asking you to do just one thing. One step. Then come back, drop a comment, and tell me: I’m moving. Let that be your covenant. Let that be your declaration.
1 | Identify the one assignment you have been avoiding. |
2 | Take one concrete step toward it this week—draft, register, call, launch. |
3 | Share this newsletter with one woman who needs this reminder today. |
A Closing Word from Dr. Valarie
You are not behind. You have not been forgotten. You are not finished. You are simply standing at a decision point—and the decision is this: will you stop asking and start moving?
Your purpose did not retire. It graduated. And there is still so much more for you to do. Around here, we don’t rush—but we don’t stall either. I will see you next week. Same place. Same purpose.
“You are not behind. You are not late. You are simply standing at a decision point.” — Dr. Valarie Harris |
